A Shackle is a U-shaped connecting tool with a load-bearing design and a removable pin. It is commonly used to connect lifting slings, chains, wire ropes, hooks, eye bolts, turnbuckles, lifting points, towing points, and other rigging hardware to an object or to one another for load securement, lifting, rigging, pulling, tensioning, and industrial fastening applications.
A shackle has two main parts: the body and the pin. The body may come in anchor form, also known as bow shackle, or chain form, also known as D shackle or dee shackle. Each body shape can be paired with different pin types, such as screw pin, round pin, or bolt-type pin, depending on the specific application requirement.
Shackles are widely used in construction, lifting, rigging, marine, transport, towing, factory maintenance, steel fabrication, crane work, hoisting, agriculture, machinery handling, and general industrial load connection. They are important hardware components for connecting lifting systems safely and efficiently.
For any lifting, hoisting, overhead, or load-critical application, the correct shackle type, working load limit, pin type, material, size, load direction, lifting angle, inspection condition, and installation method must be checked before use. A shackle should always be selected according to the actual load requirement and applicable safety standard.

Common Shackle Types
Bow Shackle / Anchor Shackle
Bow Shackle has a wider rounded body shape. It is commonly used where more than one sling, chain, or rope connection may be required, or where the load direction may not be perfectly straight. It provides more space inside the body compared with a D shackle.
D Shackle / Dee Shackle / Chain Shackle
D Shackle has a narrower D-shaped body. It is commonly used for in-line pulling, chain connection, rope connection, and straight-line load applications where side loading is not preferred.
Screw Pin Shackle
Screw Pin Shackle has a threaded removable pin that is easy to install and remove. It is practical for temporary connections, maintenance work, rigging setup, and general applications where the shackle may need to be removed frequently.
Bolt-Type Shackle / Safety Pin Shackle
Bolt-Type Shackle normally uses a bolt, nut, and cotter pin arrangement. It is commonly selected for longer-term installation, more secure pin retention, or applications where pin rotation or loosening needs extra control.
Why Choose Our Shackle
Choosing the correct Shackle is important for safety, load control, and long-term performance. The shackle type should match the load weight, working load limit, sling type, chain size, wire rope size, pin type, load direction, lifting angle, and working environment. Using the wrong shackle size or type may reduce performance and create unsafe lifting or load securement conditions.
Bow Shackles are commonly selected when more internal space is required or when connecting multiple sling legs within rated limits. D Shackles are commonly selected for more direct, straight-line connection. Screw Pin Shackles are useful for temporary or frequently removed connections, while Bolt-Type Shackles are commonly preferred for more secure or longer-term applications.
Before use, the shackle should be inspected for deformation, cracks, corrosion, worn pin, damaged thread, missing markings, incorrect pin, or any sign of overloading. The pin should be correctly seated and secured according to the shackle type. For lifting or load-critical applications, the shackle must be used within its rated working load limit and should be checked by a qualified person according to the relevant safety requirements.
